Career day is nearly over, and the last speaker of the day is an architect. You wonder if you can stand another hour of boring show and tell. But the guy who walks up carrying a big poster appears to be a hip young dude. For a minute you wonder if he is going to show you a poster about not taking drugs (because you aren’t exactly sure what an architect is), when you see that it’s a picture of a house in a forest suspended on the side of a hill, with a stream running through the house that spills into a small river. You’re astonished by the uniqueness of the design. After twenty rapt minutes of listening to his speech, you are hooked and know exactly what you want to do after high school.

Of course, you want to be an architect, but you didn’t apply to any architecture schools yet, and you aren’t even sure where one might be.

Actually, a great many quality architecture programs are available around the country. In the California, several great programs exist for undergraduate students who are fresh from high school.

Of the many architecture schools available, the NewSchool of Architecture and Design provides one of the most focused programs, and it’s located in the beautiful city of San Diego, California.

The NewSchool undergraduate admissions are straightforward. An incoming student must have a 2.5 GPA or better to qualify and must provide proof of graduation from an accredited high school. An undergraduate admission application is required for each prospective student. Each application is processed through the undergraduate admission office, and students are informed of acceptance or rejection shortly after applying. The NewSchool undergraduate admissions goal is help as many students as possible find a seat in the NewSchool of Architecture and Design, but space is limited. Students can apply at any time to the school, which is a unique feature of the program, compared to many state and private universities that only accept applications twice a year.
