Every year people make resolutions. A number of these resolutions center on getting in shape and for some the goal is to look good for swimsuit season. This year Betsey Johnson has made things easier (or maybe harder) by already revealing their new lines of women's swimsuit for the 2010 season. This year it is what they have to offer is a mixed bag of great and not so great.
What Is Nice
Sometimes it seems that you cannot go wrong with leopard print. Maybe it is the reference to the sleek animal. Whatever the look, works for The Leopard-print Wrap bikini swimwear from the swimwear line. At first glance it looks like a halter top bikini. The top actually starts at the back and the fabric wraps around the side and connects in the front and ties in the back. Unlike others, it does not look like the persons getting a wedgie. The effect is subtle, a bit intriguing and of course, cute and sexy. One can have lots of fun with this bikini.
The Bizarre
The first is the Red Carter Slashed one-piece. This one is not necessarily as sexy as the others but the it is an eye catcher and sure to be talked about, even just to comment on how bizarre it looks. This suit is a normal on one-piece swimsuit with one strap instead of two. That is not abnormal. What makes it a head turner is is that it features "slashes" across the front and sides, all the way up to the shoulder. The designers may have been aiming for "cute" by making it semi revealing, but in the end it looks like the wearer was mauled by a large cat.
Better In Concept
Browsing this season's swimwear from Betsey Johnson, one can see many intriguing designs. For example there is, in the category of Little Black Swimsuits, the Topless Bikini. The very idea that they would tout it as topless, as if going topless is a new idea, is enough to make one smile. It may seem like a joke, but it is not. If it was a cute design, they may have been able to pull it off, but sadly, they did not. It starts out with a cute bottom and features a section of fabric in the front that tapers to two cords that tie off around the neck. Section of fabric is wide at the bottom, lending the impression the person is getting a rather severe wedgie. Not something that is sexy or cute. Adding to it all, is that this "topless bikini" features a removable bandeau top.
At this point it may appear that Betsey Johnson missed the mark this year, but they have not, as the Leopard-print Wrap Bikini shows. Most of what is being offered this year is, in fact, good, such as the leopard print gold ring bandeau top bikini swimwear. It is simple but has a certain elegance to it. The Sequin Sliding Triangle top is another hit. It comes in a selection of beige or black square sequins.
