Skin Rash Rescue Tips for Very Dry Skin

By: Grant Ferns, Posted on: 2010-02-05

Dry skin is very difficult to deal with because it is more sensitive to environmental factors than other skin types. It is also less resistant to the aging process, and it can easily become itchy and irritated. However, it's nothing like treating very dry skin.
Very dry skin doesn't come from mistreated dry skin. It is a sub type of dry skin and is characterized by sensitive, tight and extremely dry skin. What makes things even worse is that traditional treatments used for dry skin may not even work for very dry skin.
Fortunately this type of skin is very treatable as long as you follow a good skin care plan. This plan should, without a doubt, include a skin rash rescue to help deal with sudden allergic reactions. In fact, creating a balance between the type of skin care products you choose and making certain lifestyle changes will be vital if you want to keep very dry skin healthy.
Skin Care for Very Dry Skin
Normal dry skin is usually treated with cream cleansers and creamy moisturizers, however, if you're trying to treat very dry skin you'll probably need to make the switch to oils.
Olive oil is an excellent cleanser for very dry skin. Simply massage a little bit of oil all over your face. Wait a few minutes so that you allow the oil penetrate the skin. Once you've done this, take a warm, moist washcloth and lay it on your skin. When the washcloth has cooled off, wipe off the excess oil and apply your usually moisturizing cream.
If your normal moisturizer isn't doing the trick, then you can also use rose hip oil to help moisturize your skin. It absorbs quickly into the skin and treats dryness almost immediately. You can reapply this product as often as you need to, but make double sure that you use sunblock if you plan on heading outside.
If you are satisfied with your traditional skin care routine, make sure that none of the products contain fragrances or alcohol. Both substances can cause irritation and dehydration so read the labels before purchasing.
The Best Skin Rash Rescue Plan
If your skin is still dry, irritated and/or develops rashes, you may want to try a few changes in your daily habits. As a matter of fact, a proper skin rash rescue plan will only be effective if you implement lifestyle changes. The right products will help, but bad habits will only counteract their effect.
You can make a start by making some changes in your diet: eliminate your caffeine, alcohol, and soda intake. These drinks promote dehydration, itchiness, and possible rashes. By making these simple changes you will not only be helping your skin, but you will also be improving your overall health.
Using a sensitive skin balm for rashes is also a good idea. Any product that contains aloe vera, rose hip seed oil, or licorice root extract will help soothe your skin when it is itchy. Another plus is that these products will also help moisturize the affected area.
Other lifestyle changes include: changing synthetic fabrics for natural fibers, using a humidifier, and drinking plenty of water. Consistency is the key in this case. None of these suggestions will work if you do not commit to a long term lifestyle change.
